Cafph - Bedford

HIV/AIDS is real , its here , an HIV diagnosis can be devastating, traumatic and this can bring about fear, anxiety, and negative feelings that can have a profound impact on the individual’s psychosocial aspects of life, particularly interactions with others. The uncertainty about one’s future and the fear of being rejected and stigmatised by others including family and friends can lead to loneliness and isolation.

At CAFPH we support people to accept and live well with HIV, work and support the whole family/significant others on understanding HIV/AIDS issues and on disclosure and above all we provide a safe and confidential environment for people in the same situation to meet, share experience and to support each other. Where ever you are in the East of England, CAFPH can come to you if you cannot come to us. We have trained peer supporters so that you are able to talk to someone you know fully understands what you are talking about.

HIV/AIDS has a huge impact on children and young people both living with and those affected and at CAFPH we have a specialist service to support them.

CAFPH supports the community by providing free HIV/AIDS awareness to help people understand issues around risk, prevention, testing, treatment and support so that myths are dispelled and reduce the stigma around HIV.

We welcome those who want to help and provide volunteering opportunities and we work with high schools and universities to provide work placements for students.
